Lively perfomance at Maurice's 'Kirya Live' concert

KAMPALA - The  “Kirya Live” performance that took place on Thursday night at the Serena Victoria Hall was a concert that will keep in people’s minds for a while.

The place was packed to the brim, packed with many revelers aching to see Maurice Kirya do what he does best, sing. The stage was world class with gleaming lights that glowed the whole auditorium, thanks to Silk Events for doing a great job.
 
The revelers curled in their seats patiently as they waited for Maurice Kirya to amble to the stage. At a few minutes past 8pm, the curtain was pulled down, the stage bristled with lights, the revelers shouted, and Maurice Kirya appeared on stage.
 
Standing high on a well-lit stage, clad in a black jacket, black trousers, a scarf wrapped around his neck, and black shades on the bridge of his nose; and with guitar maestro, Michael Ouma at an arm’s length from him, together they kicked off with Ugandan Girl, the crowd hollered, and sang along.

He ploughed on with Nnanagira, Someday, Beemola, and then rolled down memory lane with Beera Nabo.

Everyone rose to their feet and sang along, chanting his name, and I’m certain, some folks, even though curled motionlessly in their seats, mumbled to the lyrics silently.
 
He then took a breather, dashed off the stage, and changed garments. When he walked up the stage again, he was dressed as a Mexican cowboy complete with a round hat. He invited Aaron Rimbui, a piano maestro from Kenya, and together, they performed Sent From Above.
 
Maurice Kirya’s voice is robust and rich; his voice sucked blood from the auditorium leaving everyone pale and giddy with admiration. He then sang one of the crowd’s favourite, Wooye and the crowd sang along like a house on fire. Angels Carried Me, Misubawa, Boda Boda followed thereafter.

Ruyonga took to the stage and, together with Maurice, they did I don’t wanna fight Remix.

He invited a choir on stage, who sang Mulembe gwa Kirya which melted the room, literary, and brought the show to an end.
