The Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) president, Paul Kayongo is certain engineer Jecky Tandiono’s visit will help them produce better equipment.

The Indonesian is in the country on a four day visit to pass on more skills to the federation's technical staff following an agreement that was signed between the international body IWbF and Uganda to supply equipment to the rest of Africa.

“We requested the international body to send us an expert two years ago but now that we have him here, I am sure his visit will not leave us the same but put us on a different level to compete on the international market,” Kayongo said.

The woodball manufacturing pioneer was on Wednesday impressed with the products UWbF has so far manufactured at their plant at Ndejje University in Luwero.

But he later advised on minimizing wastage on raw materials and also future smoothening of the finished products in order to compete.

“The products are fine but you need to make them smoother in order to compete favourably on the international market,” Tandiono said.

Uganda is the only African country producing woodball playing equipment. Other manufacturers are China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand and South Korea.
