Allen VRS Secondary School beat Lugazi by 9-3 runs in both the 11-12 and 13-14 years categories to emerge winners of the National Little League Baseball Tournament held at Nakilebe.

The champions proved their prowess once more in the girls’ softball category where they again thrashed Lugazi 7-1 on Monday to prove they are the most talented side in the sport in the country.

The girls match was close for the first four innings with AVRS taking a slim 2-1 runs but they later added another five runs to win it 7-1.

The winning team and runners-up as well as the coaches of the twelve teams that participated in the championship received trophies and medallions for their respective Most Valuable Players from Vice President Softball Operations-Uganda, Allen Vivian Balondemu.

Following the conclusion of the national tournament that attracted teams from across the country, the officials will now start processing visas for the top players and also prepare them for the Little League European/Africa Regional Tournaments due in Poland in July.

The 13-14 year old team will be the first to travel for the tournament starting on July 1 while the 11-12 year boy’s tournament will begin July 14.

The Nation Little League Tournaments featured Lugazi Mehta, Waveland Academy Gulu, Life Care Baseball Bwaise, Kampala, Ropha Luwero, East Cardinals Jinja, Maple Lira, Allen VRS and Namirembe Parents Primary School.

The 13-14 category had Life Care Baseball Bwaise, Allen VRS school, Nile Hammers Arua
 and Lugazi Mehta.

The winner in the Poland event automatically qualifies to play in the World Little League Series event in the US in August.
