Two-time Masaza Cup finalists Singo FC yet again rose up to the occasion by beating Buwekula FC and registering a second consecutive win in this year’s competition.

In their previous game, Singo were eventually awarded three points at the expense of Busujju who were penalized for using a player who had received a red card in their last game last season.

Singo will now fancy their chances of going further into the tournament, having picked up maximum points in their last two matches.

And thanks to Edwin Lubega’s brace on Sunday, the Mubende-based side now tops its group of four teams with six points.

He netted 20 minutes after the start to put his side in front from an impressive build-up, before doubling the lead two minutes into the second half.

It was a deserved victory for the visitors who linked superbly and dominated Buwekula over the ball.

For the home team, it was a dramatic turn of fortunes, having won on their travel against Gomba FC in their season’s opener, only to suffer defeat on home turf in their second match.

They failed to keep up with their more versatile opponents, and their growing frustration hurt their ability to turn eventual opportunities into the back of the net.

And with the time dying out, any lingering hopes for a comeback were subdued by an impenetrable Singo back line who tracked the movements of their former striker Alfred Aleku.

Singo will hope to keep their star rising with their next fixture against Gomba while Buwekula meet Busujju on May 24.
