Massa joins Bloemfontein Celtic

Uganda Cranes striker Geofrey Massa has signed a three-year contract with South African Absa Premiership side Bloemfontein Celtic.

Uganda Cranes striker Geofrey Massa has signed a three-year contract with South African Absa Premiership side Bloemfontein Celtic.

The Ugandan joins Celtic from the University of Pretoria, who finished in 13th position this season.

According to Kick-off.com, Massa who scored eight goals this season for University of Pretoria has been confirmed by the club management and will be introduced to the Siwelele fans before the start of the 2015/16 season.

Celtic boss Max Tshabalala told the club’s website that the in-demand striker Massa was a great addition to the squad that finished 7th in the South African premiership this season.

“We are happy that we managed to sign a top player like Massa. This goes to show that we are serious about our mission to reinforce the squad and challenge for a respectable position on the log. His experience and prowess will assist us in achieving our goal,” Tshabalala said.

Massa was reportedly wanted by clubs such as Maritzburg United, Amazulu and Chippa United.

Massa’s illustrious career has seen him feature in the Ugandan, Egyptian and South African leagues in over a decade.

He has also been Uganda’s lead striker in at least two Africa Cup Of Nations campaigns where Uganda has come closer to qualification.
