Veterans in Kiboga and Kyankwanzi districts are bracing for the visit of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni with payment of their retirement package topping their demands.

The president is currently on a poverty eradication drive in Luwero Triangle which he has promised to transform into a model zone for the country in terms of modern farming.

The NRM veterans who supported the 1981-1986 liberation struggle are a target in the fresh campaign.

In Kiboga and Kyankwanzi districts, the president is scheduled to meet veterans from Nkuruma unit which operated in Kiboga during the bush war on Saturday.

The Kiboga district coordinator of Luwero War Veterans Association, Godfrey Nume, said that the president will on Saturday morning address veterans from Dwaniro, Bukomero sub-county and town council and Muwanga at Dwaniro sub-county headquarters.

The president will address the veterans of Kapeke, Kiboga town council, Kibiga and Lwamata at Lwamata trading center in the afternoon.

Nume told New Vision that as leaders of the veterans, they have had a hard time to answer the constant question of the retirement package which many claim that they are yet to get.

He said that is sure that the president has an appropriate answer for them.

In the neighboring Kyankwanzi district preparations are ongoing to host the president  on the same day.

According to Ana Maria Nankabirwa, the district woman Member of Parliament, the president will address veterans at Kisojjo play grounds in Ntwetwe town council.

Nankabirwa said the president visiting veterans in the district was good news because it would provide an opportunity for veterans to share their grievances directly with him.
