VP Ssekandi hails retired PS Teckla Kinalwa

Teckla Kinalwa, the former permanent secretary in the Office of the President has been hailed for her distinguished service.

KAMPALA - Vice president Edward Ssekandi has hailed Teckla Kinalwa, the former permanent secretary in the Office of the President and State House for her excellent track record and long service to the country.

This was during a sendoff party organized by the Office of the President for Kinalwa who is retiring, in honour of her long service in the Public Service.

The party took place at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala.

“A Permanent Secretary is key in enabling government achieve its policies and plan. I salute permanent secretaries like Teckla Kinalwa who perform their duties with dedication, commitment in order for government to implement its programmes,” said Ssekandi.

Kinalwa joined the civil service in 1969 as an assistant secretary and has worked in the civil service for 43 years, rising to the level of permanent secretary in 1990 until she completed her career.

Ssekandi said that Kinalwa did not only rise through the rank, but has been a role model for many public servants to whom she has provided guidance and encouragement irrespective of their ranks.

He called on public servants to remain steadfast in their work, loyal to the code of conduct in delivering services to the public.

In her remarks Kinalwa said that she had worked in some of the most sensitive offices of State House and Office of the President.

She thanked her workmates for being supportive over the years, as well as her supervisors for having trust and confidence in her abilities.

Kinalwa also challenged public servants to always work with the elected government to ensure the survival, national security and success of Uganda.

She also received a Gold jubilee medal in recognition of her distinguished long career in the public service.

Present were the head of public service John Mitala, ministers Frank Tumwebaze (presidency), Fr. Simon Lokodo (ethics and integrity), former minister Janat Mukwaya and the new permanent secretary of the Office of the President Deborah Katuramu.
