SUCCESSFUL aspirants from FUFA’s nomination process will be known by Friday.

Federation electoral commission chairman Patrick Okanya said yesterday that most of the verification had been completed “True, there are some people still running around for certain documents.  But we have largely received most of what we asked for,” explained Okanya.

“What is remaining now is a response from FUFA’s CEO Edgar Watson. He has to verify the football requirements presented by the three aspirants and their teams.”

Outgoing FUFA vice president (administration) Moses Magogo, Kampala Member of Parliament Muhammad Nsereko and Internal Security Organisation Deputy Director Taban Amin last week met preliminary nomination requirements.

Nationality, academic and football qualifications are the main issues that Okanya has been verifying ahead of Friday’s declaration.

“I must say the three candidates meet the academic and nationality requirements. What is still being verified is their football history. This, can only be checked at the federation. Watson is working on this, and as soon as he responds, we shall announce the successful candidates.”

Article 9 (8) of FUFA’s electoral code stipulates that for anyone to be eligible for the candidature of FUFA president, he must have served as an executive member of a major football body.

The administrative level under consideration here are CECAFA, CAF, FIFA, FUFA or as a FIFA instructor or chairman of a member of FIFA.

Okanya says aspirants with executive committee members who don’t meet the requirements have the options of replacing them not later than today.
