Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) has called off its strike after Government suspended the Pre-Import Verification of the Conformity to standards programme (PIVOC).

In a hurriedly convened press conference at the Government media center on Saturday, the KACITA Chairman flanked by the Minister of Trade Amelia Kyambade and other officials said the decision was arrived at after the two teams agreed to halt the process to allow room for consultation.

The traders went on strike Monday and kept their shops closed, following a move by Government to subject all imports to a mandatory standard check in the country of origin before being shipped. DETAILS IN THE SUNDAY VISION
