Rwandan champions APR Football Club stormed the final of this year’s Cecafa –Kagame club champions after dumping hosts El-Merreikh 3-1 on spot kicks Friday .

The two semi finalists had played to a 1-all draw in the normal time before the Somali FIFA referee Wish Yabarow took them into the 30 minutes of extra time that had no impact on the either side.

Uganda midfielder Joseph Kabagambe scored the lead for the Sudanese side in the 49th minute before the Rwandan army side responded ten minutes later through Isaiah Songa.

El-Merreikh will however live to blame their Nigerian import David Nwosa who battered the Rwandese defender off the ball in the early minutes of the first half and got sent off. This was the second red card for Nwosa who now tops the list of the bad boys of the tournament.

Later in the second half, APR’s Eric Nsabimana was also sent off for foul play. El-Mereikh ejected Al-Ahly Shandy on spot kick in the quarter finals but still maintained their poor form in taking penalities when three of their kicks were saved by goalie Jean Claude Ndoli.

Cecafa technical committee voted Ndoli for the man of the match. The Sudanese will now have to watch the Monday finals with no home team. In the second and last semi final this Saturday, Vital’O plays another Rwanda side Rayon Sport at 4.30pm.
