The national junior amateur golf team to the All-Africa Junior Golf Championship in Zambia has more reason to perform better after getting a presidential handshake and dining with him at state house on Monday.

President Yoweri Museveni urged the national team golfers to win in Zambia and 'come back here for a proper feast' before he flagged them off to the annual championships.

The President hosted the victorious East African Challenge and the Zone V1teams to a luncheon at State House Nakasero before giving each one of them sh3m.

And team captain Daniel Baguma believes the team is ready for the challenge after spending over two months in training.

"We have the best team this time around and I expect very good performances; after us camping for over a month. In previous tournaments we lacked such preparations; the union has really facilitated us very well and the ball is now in our court," Baguma said.

Last year Uganda finished 5th out of 12 countries at the same tournament in Zambia while their best placing to-date has been fourth place finishes in 2012 and 2013.

South Africa with 16 championship wins will still, be the team to beat at this year's event.

The team that comprises of Daniel Baguma, Hassan Kiyemba, Richard Baguma and Herman Mutebi flies out on May 3.

The best three scores count on each of the three days of competition.
