The Coca-Cola Rated Next crew has just touched base in the northern district of Lira. It is here, at the Lillian Towers hotel, where the northern region representatives for this year’s phase of the singing competition will be selected.

But first they must all audition with a song and impress judges Siima Sabiiti, Ken Daniels Kayongo and Esther Nabaasa.

The singing competition, a partnership between the Namanve based Coca-cola and Vision Group’s Urban TV, last week identified three talents in the Westnille region.  Esther Lamono, Angel Neema and Ratise Solo were the chosen three. They were chosen after a two day audition with two trial opportunities each, as will be done in Lira tomorrow and Saturday.

The singing competition now in its third season is on a countrywide search for Uganda’s next big singing act. Get this; the winner will not only take home shs50million, but a recording deal and an iPod. Auditions start at 9am and go on throughout the day, but one must get a number, as that will determine when they audition.

After the Westnile region auditions, all three judges concluded that the contestants had not prepared enough and advised the other regions to do the same. We can only hope that the Northern region will be more prepared and out at least more competitors than Westnile did.

Those who make it through the regional stage will then go through the national screening whereof the overall winner will be crowned. Coca-cola rated next will be airing on Urban TV and Bukedde TV starting April 19th.
