President Yoweri Museveni will be one of those anxiously waiting for Team Uganda to triumph in the Zone VI Africa Golf Championship.

“I implore you to put up a tight spirited fight in the game with your country at heart, focus to your destination and I am sure you will not miss it,” Museveni wrote to the team.

The president’s letter addressed to team Captain Adolf Muhumuza tells the hosts to aim high in the competition starting tomorrow at the Uganda Golf Club, Kitante.

“If we could always do our best in life, we could have nothing to regret,” stated Museveni.

To further psyche up the team Museveni chose a quote from American football legend Terry Bradshaw.

“When you have got something to prove, there is nothing greater than a challenge.”

Museveni was this afternoon supposed to officially tee-off the event that has also attracted teams from South Africa, Kenya, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Swaziland and Zimbabwe.

The president however couldn’t make it because of other commitments and delegated Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda.

Museveni has still promised total support in the team’s quest for victory.

“I wish you and the team success as you represent Uganda in this tournament. We are all rooting for your success and look forward to the trophy with you.”

Rugunda will officially declare the event open alongside officials from the Royal and Ancient Club of Scotland, the Africa Golf Union headed by Uganda’s Kiryowa Kiwanuka.

New Vision, R&A, St Andrews in Scotland, Kampala Sheraton Hotel, NTV, Uganda Tourism Board, AAR and Uganda Breweries are the sponsors.
