Nankabirwa off to Nairobi; Museveni gives sh5m

Renowned English news anchor Rosemary Nankabirwa battling with adrenocortical carcinoma cancer has Saturday afternoon been flown to Agha Khan Hospital in Nairobi for specialised treatment.
 
She had been admitted to the cancer institute and Heart Institute at Mulago hospital. By the time she was leaving the fundrasing drive had fetched well over sh100m after a well attended car wash earlier Saturday at Serena Hotel Kampala car park organised towards the cause.

A timely contribution by President Yoweri Museveni of sh5m was delivered by Media Centre's Charles Sseruga Matovu at Serena.

Among other dignitaries who contributed towards the drive were, celebrities, musicians, MPs Boaz Kafuda from Busongora and Patrick Nsanja representing Ntengeru South.

Vision Group Human resource business partner Agatha Joyday who also participated in the drive said it is important to show solidarity with other media houses adding that what is happening to Nankabibwa could easily happen to anyone.

"As Vision Group, we are part of this solidarity and we have sent out messages and appeals to all our staff. Some of them have made cash contributions, and there are those who have given instructions to finance to deduct from their salaries to this particular cause," Joyday said.

NTV's human resource manager Solomon Muhirwa said: "this has given us a learning experience; it should not only be Nankabibwa, because at the cancer institute there are so many people dieing everyday.
 
Muhirwa commended Vision Group and other media houses for the unity towards this cause.
