CRANES right fullback Denis Iguma wound up a great season with Sports Club Victoria University’s Most Valuable Player’s award.

Iguma was crowned with the MVP and the Journalists Choice Award at a glamorous Victioria University awards night at Sheraton Hotel on Friday.

“There couldn’t have been a better way to wind up the season. I am really very appreciative,” said Iguma at the inaugural awards.

Besides putting up a good show with the Cranes, Iguma also led SCVU to Uganda Cup glory. Iguma was also one of the team’s pillars as it finished fifth in its maiden Super League season.

Club chairman Simo Dubajic used the same occasion to announce that they will represent the country in the CAF Confederations Cup.  This dispelled fears of yet another no show by Ugandan clubs on the continental scene.

“We are fully committed to participating on the continent. We want to represent Uganda well in this competition. I don’t know how far we can go but we are going to give it our best.”

Patrick Edema scooped the Top Scorer’s Award while 19 year old  Henry Lopidia won the Young Player’s Award.

Savio Kabugo won the Fans Player of the Year Award while the team’s physician Ivan Sewanyana took the Chairman’s Award.

Coach Alex Isabirye was also commended for a job well done. The entire team was rewarded with a bonus.
