The national motocross team will be without its top three riders in the Central Africa Championship, leaving the children to shoulder the country’s hope to retain the title in Nairobi, Kenya this weekend.

Ten-time national champion Arthur Blick leads the team which departs for Nairobi today but will only play administrative roles.
Maximum Van Pee and Assaf Natan will also not be part of the team that faces stiff competition in Kenya.

Maxime is busy with examinations in London while Assaf is away in Israel.

“Despite the absence of the top riders in MX1 category, we do not have to be afraid because our biggest contributors of points are the children in the 50cc, 65cc and 85cc categories,” Blick remarked.

“Our boys are on form and we look forward to retaining the title again.” Blick expects Uganda to claim the majority of podium positions.

The team, sponsored by Mountain Dew and TOTAL Uganda will have a practice session tomorrow.
