EXPRESS got off to a poor start in the Kagame Cecafa Club Championship by drawing with Djibouti side Ports United.

The Red Eagles were held to a goal-less draw by a side that many classified as tournament minnows.

The Red Eagles, coached by ex-international Wasswa Bbosa, were unimpressive on a day when Uganda’s other representatives URA were beaten by another lightweight Al Ahly Shandy.

Meanwhile, suspected rebel shell-fire hit the capital of Sudan’s war-torn South Kordofan state on Tuesday, the opening day of an African regional football tournament, local sources said.

“They are targeting that stadium,” a local resident said. The venue was however not hit.
