An airtime vendor nearly lost her life when thugs trailed her all the way from her workplace in Mmengo, a city suburb, to Bunamwaya, and shot her, only to flee with sh20,000.

Phiona Twikirize, speaking from her bed at Lubaga hospital, said last Saturday armed thugs waylaid her and stole sh14m in cash and airtime worth about sh3m.

She filed a case at Bunamwaya police post.

In a successive attack on Monday, Twikirize put up a fight when armed thugs attacked her and grabbed her bag, which unknown to them, had only sh20,000. The thugs shot her in the chest and buttocks before making off with her bag.

She believes they are the same thugs that robbed her the first time.

Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the incident saying police rushed her to Lubaga hospital where she is nursing wounds.
