Jjunju said that the money is not enough to support the club’s entire budget.

Jjunju told New Vision yesterday that the sponsorship package was used to clear the players’ salary arrears.
“In fact all the money that was given to us by Azam in February was used to pay players’ salaries, transport dues and match bonuses,” Jjunju said.

“The money we are using now comes from gate collections and membership fees,” Jjunju stated.

He added that every week, the club spends sh1.5m on transport. The same figure covers match bonuses.

The official added that according to club records, the players are only demanding wages for March and are expected to get a part payment of sh100,000 tomorrow.

However, Express players led by the captain Willy Kavuma dismissed Jjunju’s statement saying the club has not paid them for over six months.
The players insist that since the current season kicked off, they have only been paid for two months. Bonuses is all they have been getting.

Kavuma is the highest paid player earning sh350,000. The lowest paid player gets sh200, 000.

“We have been demanding for the money for months but what we receive are promises that we shall be paid,” Kavuma said.
