Charity Opolot and Simon Rhee carded 65 and 64nett respectively to emerge overall winners at the ladies Captain''s Prize Golf Tournament at Kitante on Saturday

Charity Opolot and Simon Rhee carded 65 and 64nett respectively to emerge overall winners at the ladies Captain's Prize Golf Tournament at Kitante on Saturday.

Playing off handicap 29 and 25 respectively, Opolot and Rhee consequently won themselves an all-expenses paid (business class) trip to Dubai courtesy of the sponsors of the one-day tournament; Flydubai.

This was on top of flat screen TV's from co-sponsors Samsung.

Opolot beat ten other contestants in her group C while Rhee was the best of sixteen other in the men group D.

Katy Kabenge (73nett) in whose honor the tournament was played was the top performer in the ladies group A with Monica Ntege and Eva Magala finishing second and third respectively.

Wei Jie, Anne Abeja and Ruth Ssali were the best in group B while Diana Nabukenya, Connie Mukuru and Christine Wang top performed in group C

Prizes ranging from dinners and one month gym membership at the Sheraton Hotel and Cave Javas, fuel, Home Theaters and gift hampers from Uniliver on top of trophies is what all the top performers got at the colorful prize ceremony presided over by NSSF deputy managing director Geraldine Ssali Busuulwa.

Earlier professional golfer Deo Akope had topped the professional's category by returning 142 gross over two rounds.

On top of bagging the biggest share of sh6m, Akope together with Phillip Kasozi who finished second on his professional debut consequently qualified to represent Uganda at the prestigious Kenya Golf Open that has over sh100m in prize money.

Sponsors of the Captain's Prize tournament included Coca Cola, Johnnie Walker, ICEA,Steel and Tube, Uniliver, Sheraton, City Tyres, Security 2000, Sipla, Ferduslt Engineering, and Case Medical among others.
