It has emerged that Golden Band members salvaged Stecia Mayanja's wedding following protracted last minute counseling by her fellow musicians.

The wedding that took place Saturday at noon at Kibuli mosque had been thrown into pandemonium following reports Stecia's mother would not bless the wedding because her porspective son-in-law, Abasi Mubiru, was a conman.

Following their union in holy matrimony at Kibuli, several sections of fans labeled it the "Golden Band Ring', in reference to the efforts of Golden Band members to see the wedding through.

However Golden Band member Mesach Semakula referred to it all as malicious talk aimed at tarnishing their name. He said it was such talk that that had incited Stecia's mother, Cissy Nakiganda, to call off her daughter's wedding.

“In life, one has friends from whom they can always seek advice and counselling during hardships. When Stecia was confronted with such difficulties she approached us as her friends because her mother was being confused by people who did not wish her (Stecia) well,” Semakula said.

Semakula clarified that as Golden Band they have no right whatsoever to convince Stecia to wed against her will.

“We counseled her mother and she accepted to bless the wedding which she is also attending. Let's put whatever has happened in the past; I beg that whoever has been offended in anyway by what transpired forgives Stecia,’ Semakula added.

Of interest however is how Mesach and friends managed to convince Stecia's mother after she swore on Bukedde TV that the wedding would not take place because she had since found out her prospective son-in-law was a conman.

She said Abasi had even lied to them about some of the items he had promised to deliver as part of the dowry.

Semakula also denied reports that as Stecia's colleagues they were conniving with her to collect money during planned wedding meetings just to cover her outstanding debts.

“We gave Stecia support after she confided in us that she was convinced she had met the love of her life and wanted to take it to the next level."

"At my age, with greying hair, I, Semakula, cannot start engaging in such nonsense because I have a name to protect."

“That is all talk because I understand not everyone takes the truth well. However all I beg is that people should always first verify what they want to say about others in public; but, in this era of wrangles among musicians nothing surprises me anymore.

I therefore beg that people distance Stecia's personal issues from those of Golden Band.

“If I, Mesach, got misunderstandings with my wife Nakaayi, it would be personal business not of the Band. In this case I wonder why people dragged the Band into Stecia's issue,” Semakula surmised.
