Nabagereka to launch 'Ekisaakaate' UK chapter

The Nnabagereka of Buganda Sylvia Nagginda is set launch the first ever Ekisakate Kya Buganda before delivering a key note address at the annual UK convention that will take place in London on September 12, 2015.

The event is the largest gathering of Ugandans in Europe that is usally attended by government officials, members of parliament, Buganda Kingdom offcials, musicians and Ugandans in diaspora

The aim of the Convention is to encourage investors expand their current businesses to the east African region, or start new ventures between the UK and Uganda in both directions.

According to a press release sent to The New vision by the organizers of the event, Nagginda will deliver a key note address on areas such as early childhood care and development, girl child education, vocational training and employment for the youth.

“She will also speak about empowerment of women, health issues particularly regarding the prevention and cure of childhood diseases; nutrition, and sexual reproductive health, including the prevention of HIV/AIDS,” the statement stated.

The Chairman of the Convention, Willy Mutenza said that the UK Ekisakaate programme will give a unique opportunity to the diaspora youth to reconnect with their Ugandan roots and embrace traditional and cultural Ugandan values.

“This event will be key in instilling in the younger generation a sense of pride and patriotism in being Uganda,” he said.

The conference will also address the essential need-to-know topics most prevalent to East Africa (Uganda), such as opportunities within the priority sectors of infrastructure development; Power & Energy, health care, agriculture & agri-business, real estate, tourism, increasing intra-regional trade and developing risk mitigation strategies through collaborations and private equity, and VC finance access.

Mutenza added that the forum will also enable investors to talk directly with senior Government officials and business leaders on how to use Uganda as a hub to access an expanding market of nearly 374m consumers in the EAC Common Market and Southern African Development Community (SADC) Market.
