Double Commonwealth Games 5000m and 10000m champion Moses Kipsiro has driven off his new Mitsubishi Double Cabin from National Council of Sports.

The vehicle was promised by government to Olympian Kipsiro after he won the two titles in New Delhi in 2010. It has been parked for the last three weeks.

“It is a good offer. I am now going back to train hard so that I even perform better,” said Kipsiro before driving off the vehicle.

“I could not attend the handover as I was flying out to New York for a race,” he said. He finished second in the New York race before winning the Manchester Bupa 10km road run in UK last week.

After receiving the vehicle from National Council of Sports GS Aligawesa yesterday, Kipsiro promised to perform even better to see that he puts Uganda on the map. He said his focus now is on qualifying for two races in the 2013 World Championships.

Earlier,  the national athletics federation UAF also got a 30-sitter bus that was promised by government after the Maputo All Africa Games.

Kipsiro, Timothy Ayeko and Juliet Chekwel have already qualified for the 10000m at the event and are joined by Sarah Nambawa (Triple Jump), Jacob Araptany (3000m SC) together with marathon runners Stephen Kiprotich, Jackson Kiprop and Abraham Kiplimo as Uganda’s team to the World Championships so far.
