Dolphins, Seals for Nairobi meet

Thirty eight Ugandan swimmers from the Seals and Dolphins clubs are headed to Nairobi to compete in the Kenya Swimming Federation Long Course National Age Group and Open Championship due February 27-March 1 in Nairobi.

Thirty eight Ugandan swimmers from the Seals and Dolphins clubs are headed to Nairobi to compete in the Kenya Swimming Federation Long Course National Age Group and Open Championship due February 27-March 1 in Nairobi.


The Dolphins will bank on 12-year old Selina Katumba who is fresh from winning all her heats in the national trials held at Gems Cambridge School last weekend.

Competing in the 12 and under category Katumba won 9 gold medals from the same championship on top of the girls' overall trophy last year.

Arnold Kisulo who beat his seed time in most of the trial races is also on the team alongside regular competitors Tendo Mukalazi, Kirabo Namutebi, Siegfred Katumwa, Raphael Sine, Adnan Kabuye and Samora Byansi.

On form Seals Club's captain Nuwa Senkebe Serunjogi who registered personal bests in all events during the trials is also going to Nairobi.

Senkebe is not new to the Nairobi event as he was also able to win gold, for the third time, at the open level against Kenya opposition last year. All the Ugandan swimmers are below 17 years. Coaches Muzafar Muwanguzi and Chisela Kanchela are in charge of the Dolphins and Seals respectively.
