Charles Ayeko has explained that his arrival at relegation threatened Uganda Premier League side Rwenshama FC is meant to save it from the drop at the end of the season.

Ayeko has penned a six months contract with the club currently at the tail end of the 16 team table and has managed to beat Army side Simba FC 2-0 in Bombo and SCVU 1-0 at home.

Ayeko hopes to win his third consecutive match when he faces SC Villa at Nakivubo on Tuesday.

"I have an agreement with Rwenshama to help the team stay in the premier league next season. As it is now they are headed for relegation. I enjoy coaching teams in this situation because it brings out your ability as a good coach," Ayeko said.

"I think it is possible for them to survive relegation this season especially after they got the players I asked them to sign for me. Their problem was money but with arrival of Azam, it is not a problem now".

Ayeko insists that eight new players he signed during the January transfer will rescue the team. Rwenshama have signed Shafiq Kakeeto, Apolo Kakaire, Mustafa Lubobo, Sulaiman Majanjalo, Fred Ngando, Dan Sewava, Rashid Mutebi and Sulaiman Ochero.

Ayeko, who for some reason has not coached the top four Uganda Premier League clubs boasts of having helped Rwampara FC, Horizon FC and Ruhinda FC secure promotion to the premier league between 1999 and 2004.

He also helped Bunamwaya (now Vipers FC) avoid relegation in 2006 where he rescued the team from the second last position to stay in the top flight soccer league.

Ayeko's appointment to coach Rwenshama on top of MUBS beach soccer team puts him among the busiest tacticians in Uganda today joining Haruna Kebba who manages YMCA BSC, Simba FC and the national beach soccer team the Sand Cranes.
