New interim BUL FC head coach Joseph Mutyaba has blamed the Azam Premier League saga for his side’s delayed game against Soana FC that eventually ended in a stalemate at Kakindu grounds on Friday.

Mutyaba said his players had a nervous game after the match had earlier been called off “due to an on-going Azam saga”.

“My players lost morale of playing after the competitions committee had earlier on called off the match due to the on-going Azam saga,” he said.

“They really had a nervous game throughout and this is very dangerous because of the fact that they had lost focus and will to put up a spirited performance.”

The home side had to share the spoils in a delayed match that had been scheduled to kick off at 5pm local time.

They created numerous chances in front of Soana’s goal, but failed to make it count.

In particular was BUL’s captain Patrick Asiku and Ivan Lubaale who will rue their failure to convert great opportunities in either side of a game lacking attacking accuracy.

More pressure piled on the home team when Lubaale saw his penalty saved in the 50th minute.

Former BUL defender Madi Byabasaija was sent off in injury time after bundling up substitute Edgar Luzige but the advantage in numbers came a little too late for the home side to secure a much-needed win.
