Three people including a five-year-old boy have died after their boat capsized on Lake Bisina on Monday evening in the eastern district of Katakwi, a pastor says.

Simon Okoboi, 26, and Modesta Akello with her son only identified as Idongut, 5, died at around 5pm local time.

According to Pastor Jorem Angois of Kamenu Pentecostal Revival Ministries (PRM), the deceased were returning from Amusia parish in Toroma sub-county where they had gone to fetch firewood.

“The boat capsized due to a heavy wind,” a relative only identified as Angois said.

Relatives and local authorities have mounted a search for the bodies.
