The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), is set to issue new results for the Technical Drawing (TD) for last year’s Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams.

According to the board, initial results released on Tuesday, February 3, were inaccurate.

In a press statement, UNEB spokesman, Hamis Kaheru said: “The error arose during computation of marks and affected the grading system to the detriment of the affected candidates. The board has rectified the error and new results print-outs will be issued to the affected examination centres.”

UNEB reviewed results of last year’s TD after scores of heads, mainly of “traditional” schools fi led complaints with the national assessment body.

The anomaly affected all examination centres.

On the release of the UCE results, UNEB had issued a circular, asking heads of centre, to study and analyse the results carefully and report any complaints or errors for correction by February 27.

Kaheru said the corrections will be made in the UCE certificates that are yet to be issued.

Initial results indicated that TD paper presented the worst results with the best students in the country obtaining credit five unlike on previous years when students would get distinctions.

TD is among optional subjects preferred by “traditional schools” with abundant supportive facilities although teaching material like equipment and textbooks are very expensive.

Parents are equally furious that the erroneous results have dampened their children’s interest in pursuing combinations of their choice since the initial results had greatly affected their grades.

But Kaheru said there is still enough time for students to get admission into schools of their choice and pursue a combination with TD since the official selection of candidates for Senior Five is slated for February 12 and February 13.
