President Yoweri Museveni is Sunday afternoon expected to grace special thanksgiving prayers for the newly appointed National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party leaders.

The thanksgiving ceremony taking place at Bugiri district headquarters, is organised by the office of the NRM secretary general.

“We are expecting the president at 2.00pm, and the main reason we have organised these prayers is to thank God for the new team and also to pray for God’s wisdom so that he can guide them in their work,” said Meddie Mulumba, one of the organising committee members.

Mulumba told New Vision online that the prayers which kick off at 10:00am will be led by the Bishop of Jinja diocese Rev Fr. Charles Wamika.

Early this month the NRM approved Bugiri Woman MP Justine Kasule Lumumba (Government Chief Whip) as the new secretary general, replacing Amama Mbabazi.

Nakaseke Woman MP Rose Namayanja (Information minister) as the new party treasurer, replacing Trade minister Amelia Kyambadde.

Nwoya MP Richard Todwong (minister Without Portfolio) and Kaberamaido MP Kenneth Omona  who  replaced  Dorothy Hyuha and Katongole Singh as deputy secretary general and deputy treasurer respectively.
