This rainy season is here and could be a joy for the farmer except those who grow passion fruits.

James Mubiru, a passion fruit trader in Naksero market, who is not happy with his sales since the rains started at the close of April, says that often during such a season they make loses.

He explains that the consumption of juice during this season is so low because of the weather.

“Those who used to purchase fruits of sh10, 000, now spend about sh5, 000, yet the price has also come down from sh4000 a kilogram to shs2500, and the quantity per every sh1000 sale has increased from just 7-6 fruits, to 10 fruits” Mubiru says.

Meanwhile, the markets have also registered a drop in the supply of tomatoes.

A Kilogram of tomatoes is now retailing at sh3000 from sh2800 two weeks ago.

Traders however the supply of tomatoes to the market to normalise in a month’s time.
