WHOEVER thought that winning the Uganda Rugby Union 2012 best upcoming player of the year award would generate complacency in Asuman Mugerwa must think again.

The Heathens star followed up his previous accolade with a man-of-the-match performance for Rwenzori franchise side in their Bamburi Super Series (BRSS) 53-3 victory over Mamba last weekend.

Mugerwa put in a stellar performance as Rwenzori outclassed Kenyan outfit Mamba.

He later declared that there was more to come ahead of what promises to be an exciting tournament.

“I first won one in Mumias last year and continued working hard but winning two awards in the same month has pushed me to work harder and I will not rest untill I win more especially on continental level,” Mugerwa said in an Interview after receiving the award from Philip Munene.

Rwenzori's Uhuru makes one of several tries to put his side through to the next round.

“It’s encouraging but it’s a challenge that you don’t have to run away from, because every player wants these awards but if you win one and then another then you thank God to add you the strength to keep going” Mugerwa explained.

He added that consistent gym work, training and discipline had combined to transform him into the player he is.

Rwenzori forward Solomon Mawanda celebrates yet another try for Uganda's representatives.

Meanwhile Rwenzori coach Fred Mudoola has asked his bosses to consider flying the team to Nairobi if it qualifies for the final.

“Early travel by road would be okay but players can’t overcome that long journey fatigue and the climate changes to have a favorable fight on the pitch. That is why I want them to fly if we qualify,” Mudoola stated.

Jubilant fans joined Rwenzori players to soak up the convincing victory.

Rwenzori are nine points on top of Pool B and will face either Nyumbu or UAP Papa in the semi-finals. Both Nyumbu and UAP are tied at 10 points each. Their fixture on Saturday will determine who leads the table.

Rwenzori will also have to beat Kenyan side Ndovu to guarantee top spot in Pool B.
