Participants in the CAF License A and B coaching courses at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru have been urged to keep abreast with the new technologies in the game if they want to get to the top.

The call was made by FUFA’s vice president Justus Mugisha, who opened the course on behalf of FUFA president Moses Magogo.
Magogo is away in Zurich at the invitation of FIFA for last night’s Ballon d’Or awards ceremony.

The two-week course ends on January 25 and has attracted 30 participants, including two from Kenya. It is organised by FUFA in conjunction
with Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Opening the course, Mugisha urged coaches to be well versed with new technologies in the sporting world if they want to be at top level and more professional.

“Many of you do not have laptops, smart phones or tabs. I urge you that after the course you go back and acquire these gadgets and use them to get daily updates on football, go to FIFA sites so that you get updates on new tactics and techniques to give to your players in your respective clubs,” Mugisha said.

“The challenge in Uganda is that the way you used to play football in the 1970s is the way you want to teach your players to follow with those old technique. Please get to know the outside sporting world and learn different techniques to pass on to your players,” Mugisha added.

He urged the coaches to emphasise self-discipline, teamwork among players and improve on communication skills.

Mugisha reminded the participants that FUFA is committed to improving the technical aspect of the game, which includes coaching.

CAF instructors Mujib Kasule, Jackson Nyiima, Asuman Lubowa, Livingstone Kyambadde and Tom Lwanga are facilitating. CAF instructor
Sande Kayuni, a Tanzanian national will examine the participants at end of the course.
