Rally drivers have urged the national motorsport governing body (FMU) to put to use the electronic timer purchased in 2011 to avoid controversy at the end of competitions arising from unreliable time results compiled manually by time marshals.

The drivers sitting at Grand Imperial Hotel in a meeting to propose amendments in the competition rules, demanded an explanation from FMU why the timing system is not used at events.

“Why do we continue getting contradicting times when we fundraised for the electronic timer?” Eddy Mukiibi paused the question to Kisitu Mayanja a member of the sporting commission.

The drivers cited scenarios where some competitors’ time cards reflect zero time yet they have completed the section.
