Jinja Golf Club captain Joseph Nkurunziza finally found the right strokes at Entebbe Club to bag the Danny Nkata memorial golf tournament and the Orange/Castle Lite December mug on Saturday.

The handicap 20 golfer beat a strong field of 90 golfers to claim his first major win at the club after so many attempts.

"I have been one the most tortured golfers on this course but today I said I must humble this course or it will humble me forever. But I also played with one of my critics Patrick Mugisha who has been critical of my stance and swing so I had to prove him wrong and I succeeded," Nkurunziza said at the prize ceremony.

But Patrick Oyee was crowned the overall winner of the monthly mug series amid glitzy fireworks after he emerged as the most consistent golfer with 12 counts in which he scored 970nett.

Oyee beat Dr. Alex Kamugisha (11 counts-867nett) and Charles Kabunga (11 counts-891nett) to second and third respectively while Jayne Thomas (10 counts-767nett) was the best lady of the monthly mugs action.

Nancy Muraya was runner-up, registering 8 counts and finishing with 628nett.

Oyee attributed his win to the beautiful experience of playing at Entebbe every weekend.

"Yes I'm the winner but it's not about that – it has been about interacting with so many golfers and making friends and I will dedicate this win to all golfers of Entebbe Club, let us keep it up," Oyee remarked after being crowned by Ian Nkata.

Other December accolades went to Morris Ongwech (73nett) who beat Patrick Mugisha on count-back with Mike Odur finishing third in group A.

Joseph Galiwango (67nett), James Masiko (72c/b) and John Kwon were the best performers in group B while Fred Kasumba (72nett), David Ssekitoleko (73nett) and Imo Etuk (75nett) were group C's best.

The top ladies were Gloria Mbaguta (72nett), Maxi Byenkya (78nett), Diana Nabukenya and Pamella Tumusiime (83nett) in the ladies group A and B respectively.
