UGANDA Golf Union president and chairman Palm Valley and Country Club Amos Nzeyi has staked a state of the art golf set for any Ugandan golfer who can play seven under par on the Palm Valley course.
Nzeyi challenged the golfers including the professionals after the Sheraton Invitational golf tournament at the par 72 challenging nine-hole course. Many golfers loathe it because they lose many balls while playing there.
John Kasangaki returned 39 stable points to win the invitational tournament played at the club- on Saturday.
The handicap 28 Uganda Golf Club golfer beat a strong field of over 100 golfers to claim his maiden win in the sport.
And he had some advice for others who are looking foward to winning at Kakungulu; “Keep it simple, and ensure you stay on the fairway,” Kasangaki said on why he emerged winner.
Abraham Ainaman beat Willy Kitatta on count-back to claim the group A top prize with 38 points while Patrick Magala (30pts) and David Ssekitoleko (23pts) where the top performers in the men’s groups B and C respectively.
The Sheraton sponsored tournaments winning streak continued for Evelyn Asiimwe (group A) and Charity Opolot (group B) when they claimed the ladies top accolades, with Flavia Namakula and Lydia Mutesi finishing second respectively.
The winners in each category will on top of the trophies they got also enjoy other amenities at the Sheraton including dinner for two at the Victoria restaurant, 1-6 month Sheraton fitness and a weekend for two in the presidential and junior suites.
The sh8m professionals contest was won by Herman Mutaawe with a total of 150 gross after two rounds.
