The Ministry of Health has entered into a partnership with Rotary, the US Mission in Uganda and Coca-Cola to carry out a series of activities to promote maternal and child health.

They have also enlisted the help of religious organisations, whose clergy will mobilise their followers to seek and access the services, which are to be offered free of charge.

The partnership was announced last week by the ministry and its three partners at the Media Centre in Kampala.

The partners will conduct family health days as interventions for child survival, maternal health and health of the family.

This, according to Albert Kasozi Lule, the family health co-ordinator, who represented the director general of health services, Dr. Jane Aceng, is intended to fast-track the realisation of Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5, which aim at reducing, infant, child and maternal deaths.

The partnership is conducting family health days in 28 districts in Acholi, Karamoja, Rwenzori and West Nile regions.
