KAMPALA - Lawrence Serugo, 27, is lying unconscious at Mulago Hospital after his throat was slit by a 20-year-old friend for allegedly failing to pay back a sh2,000 debt.

Serugo’s throat was allegedly slit by his friend, only identified as Dennis, as people watched.

It was revealed that Denis was demanding the money from him, but in vain, until he decided to act quickest Monday afternoon.

A bleeding Serugo was a while later rushed to hospital by the residents who had witnessed the gruesome act.

Police reports show that Serugo is a resident of Kisenyi-Muzana zone in the city centre.

“Serugo had earlier agreed to buy a radio from Dennis at sh10,000. Later, he declined to complete the payment, saying that the radio was faulty,” an eye-witness said.

Alfred Opok, the officer in charge of Muzana Police Post in Kisenyi, said all this happened when Dennis went to Serugo’s workstation demanding for the balance of 2, 000.

The horrific incident led to the arrest of the attacker.

By press time, Dennis was still being held on charges of attempted murder at the Kampala Central Police Station as investigations into the case go on.
