MPs Rose Akol Okullu (Bukedea) and Tim Lwanga (Kyamuswa) who were chairpersons then of the budget committee (2010/2011, 2011/2012) will today report to Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Directorate (CIID) in Kibuli for questioning.

Last week, the Police wrote to the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, to provide information over alleged cases of fraudulent budgeting of National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and embezzlement of sh88.2b.

Despite provisions in the NSSF Act which exempt pensioners from social security contributions, the money (sh88.2b) was defended before the budget committee.

It is alleged that in financial year 2010/2011 sh44.2b was irregularly budgeted for by the ministry of public service for NSSF contribution and same amount was released and diverted to unknown activities.

In a letter that the New Vision has seen, in the subsequent financial year2011/2012, the said officials again budgeted for the same amount and the funds also spent on unknown activities.
