RALLY drivers have urged the Motorsport governing body to amendment the rules to suit the environment they compete in.

The crews expressed their concerns with the existing rules when some drivers were penalised for knocking the tape while those that knocked the tyre barriers or went off the track were not penalised.

“The law is unfair. It states that when a driver knocks the tape he is penalised, yet here we use tyre barriers also and this leaves one who has knocked a tyre go free while the one who knocked a tape is penalised yet they both went off the track,” Omar Mayanja argued.

He cited Duncan Mubiru who was penalised one minute and ten seconds for knocking a tape, contributing to his poor performance finishing 12th overall while drivers like Shafiq Ssemujju and Jas Mangat that who both brushed the tyre barrier were not penalised.

Mayanja adds that it’s unfair and the Motorsport governing body (FMU) should consider those issues to end the continuing petty complaints that always emerge after every competition.

The crew of Super lady Suzan Muwonge and Edmond Kyeyune, in Subaru Impreza N10 rolled their car and didn’t complete the race while Rogers Kiggundu crashed into a swamp.
