Suspicious man cuts cheating wife's legs

MASAKA - The Police in Buwunga, Masaka district, have detained a man who cut his wife’s legs accusing her of infidelity.

Jjingo Gonzaga was dragged to the Police by a group of residents who arrested him as he attempted to amputate his wife Agnes Nakasozi.

Gonzaga also threatened to kill one John Mayanja whom he said kissed and danced with his wife at a dance held at Nkuke trading centre on Easter Monday.

Gonzaga told New Vision that he used a wheel spanner to hit Mayanja on the head because Mayanja had taken a long time moving around with his wife.

“I was fed up and decided to hire some people to monitor their movements. Late on Easter Monday night, someone came home and informed me that he had seen Mayanja and my wife in the dance hall. I indeed found them sitting on a bench in a dark corner where they were drinking and kissing,” he said.

Detained at Buwunga Police post, Gonzaga said he then decided to take action.

“I went back to my garage, picked a wheel spanner and headed for the discotheque where I found the two dancing, while squeezing and kissing. I swung the spanner to hit Mayanja and in the process, Nakasozi also fell down. I also hit her on the legs breaking both of them.”

Married for 13 years, Gonzaga and Nakasozi have five children. It is alleged that he moved out of the house after getting another woman.

“I take my responsibility as a father and husband to look after my family, but that woman has kept going out with Mayanja. One time I found them coming out of a bush, but they ran off before I could pounce on them.”

Nakasozi wants court to separate them, saying when Gonzaga got another wife, she lost interest in him.

“Why should he follow me every time when I have no feelings for him?” she asked.

“He abandoned me in the house with my children and I feel that he should give us freedom,” Nakasozi said.

She said that going out to disco with her colleagues did not concern Gonzaga since she gave him time to enjoy with his new wife.
