A number of private schools without the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) centre numbers in Gomba will get them next year, the district education officer, Godfrey Kalyango, has said.

In a speech read by education committee chairperson William Mugabe, Kalyango said a team from the Ministry of Education has been inspecting schools in Gomba with the aim of issuing them centre numbers.

There are about 20 private schools without centre numbers in Gomba and they have been sending their students to sit UNEB examinations in Masaka district.

“A licence takes two years to be processed. However, next year, most schools will be provided with UNEB centre numbers to enable their students sit examinations in their respective schools,” Kalyango said.

Mugabe had represented Kalyango at the handover of desks to Grace Community Primary School in Gomba on Saturday.

A total of 40 desks, worth sh5m, were donated to the school by members of the Blossom Youth Project in Uganda Management Institute. The initiative was sponsored by SPEDAG Interfreight Uganda.
