Trias Uganda invites Farmers’ member-based organizations (MBOs)/ associations/ cooperatives; Small Scale Entrepreneurs (SSE) member-based organizations (MBOs)/ associations/ cooperatives; and SACCO’s in Uganda to submit Concept Notes for the implementation of its new programme 2014- 16.

Trias Uganda invites Farmers’ member-based organizations (MBOs)/ associations/ cooperatives; Small Scale Entrepreneurs (SSE) member-based organizations (MBOs)/ associations/ cooperatives; and SACCO’s in Uganda to submit Concept Notes for the implementation of its new programme 2014- 16.

The call for Concept Notes:

Through its new programme 2014–16, Trias Uganda wants to contribute to sustainable Farmers, Small Scale Entrepreneurs and Finance (SACCOs) Member-Based Organizations that are active actors in society, empowering their members personally and professionally, especially poor people, women and young people, improving members’ market participation, influencing the (local) socio-economic and policy environment in favor of its members, and contributing to a more inclusive global society.

Criteria:

Member-based organizations/associations/cooperatives are eligible if complying with the following criteria:

a. Location: the organizations must be based in the districts of Arua, Buliisa, Hoima, Kiryandogo, Masindi, Nebbi and Zombo and/or at national level

b. Farmers:

i. Membership: mixed (men and women); or women only

ii. Minimum membership of 1000

iii. Level: at sub-county/district and/or national level

iv. Registered as a legal entity in Uganda

v. Engaged in improving food security, productivity, and/or access to markets or in value chains for their members in an organized manner

c. Small Scale Entrepreneurs:

i. Membership: mixed (men and women); or women/youth only

ii. Level: at sub-county/district and/or national level

iii. Registered as a legal entity in Uganda

iv. Minimum membership of 50-100

v. Engaged in business related to agricultural value chains with the aim to improve the business of their members and to enhance the performance of the value chain and to enhance (local) agricultural produce markets

d. Savings and Cooperative Organizations:

i. Membership: mixed (men and women); or women/youth only

ii. Level: at sub-county/district and/or national level

iii. Registered as a legal entity in Uganda

iv. Minimum membership of 1500

v. Providing financial services to both small entrepreneurs and farmers using a group methodology

e. NB: that individual farmers or entrepreneurs are not eligible to apply; only member-based organizations are eligible.

Trias is currently only looking for Concept Notes and successful applicants will be invited to further participate in the process of developing the new programme. The duration of the programme period is 3 years: 2014 –16.

Concept notes that demonstrate collaboration/partnerships between eligible organizations will be viewed favourably.

Applications – digital and/or printed – must be received by 17:00 hrs Uganda Time on March 29, 2013. Any proposal received after this deadline will not be taken into consideration.
