Defending champion Flavia Namakula who crushed local competition last year should expect a real challenge in this year’s edition of the Entebbe Ladies Golf Open this weekend

Tanzanian star Iddi Madina arrives today so she does a couple of practice rounds ahead of tee off on Friday.

The 36-hole tournament that will also have Rwandan women will be used by the club to mark the International Women’s Day. Madina who finished second in the Uganda Open last year matches Namakula’s form.

“We expect all the leading lady players in the country led by the defending champion Flavia Namakula. We also expect players from Rwanda and Tanzania,” Entebbe vice captain Edwin Tumusiime said.

Namakula who had earlier expressed a desire for better competition is lying in wait for the Tanzanians.

“Locally there are just a few ladies that provide good competition so without golfers from neighbouring countries the level of competition would be low. I am ready for the tournament and I will certainly do my best as usual,” Namakula stated. Tanzanians led by Engle Eaton claimed seven of the top ten positions in the Uganda Open last year.
