KAMPALA - Court sitting in Makindye early this week granted Ugandan musician Pallaso a non-cash bail of sh8m as he faces charges of assault and trespass.

Pallaso – whose real names are Pius Mayanja – and his manager Jeff Kiwanuka with their two bouncers appeared before Makindye Grade I court magistrate Stella Maris Amabilis, who later handed them bail.

The musician and three accomplices were arrested late last week for allegedly assaulting a one Patrick Sennyondo.

The incident occurred in Kizungu zone in Makindye, a city suburb.

On the day the incident was reported (Friday), Pallaso and his manager were later after their arrest released on police bond because the musician had a concert at Freedom city shopping mall on Entebbe road the same day.

Two of their counterparts spent the weekend in the coolers of Katwe police station awaiting their appearance in court on Monday.

Court heard that the group assaulted the aide of singers Mowzey Radio and Weasel of the Goodlyfe at their home in Kizungu.

Court was adjourned to November 24 when the group will appear for the trial.

The victim who reportedly sustained face and knee bruises earlier told the police that he was beaten by Pallaso abetted by his group.

“These four people led by Pallaso stormed our place in the early hours of the morning, and before knowing anything, the guys started pounding me on the orders of Pallaso.”

In his police statement, Sennyondo said Jeff Kiwanuka, the former Goodlyfe manager demanded access to the home yet Mowzey and Weasel were away in South Africa.

When Sennyondo denied him access, Kiwanuka called Pallaso who summoned a gang that forced their way into the compound where they grabbed and beat him up.

“We got a report that singer Pallaso had assaulted Sennyondo, an aide to singers Mowzey and Weasel. This prompted us to start our search and by Friday afternoon, we had arrested him and his group,” said Katwe Police Station boss Ibrahim Saiga

Saiga said Pallaso’s other accomplices included Ivan Mukiibi and Suleiman Kitandwe.
