Muntu, Mao hold talks for future relations

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president General, Major General Mugisha Muntu has paid a courtesy call to fellow opposition leader of Democratic Party (DP) president General Norbert Mao to encourage a spirit of togetherness and future relations.

“The visit was to create a platform with other political parties to work together for future relations,” DP spokesman Kenneth Paul Kakande told the New Vision Thursday.

Among other issues discussed included policies and joining efforts to work together to fight corruption in Uganda.
He clarified that DP doesn’t singly look at joining party coalition for joint presidential seat only but also fielding other party flag bearers for contestable seats.

“We are not simply discussing but with a purpose of looking at a wide range of issues, “Kakande said.

Early this week DP president General Norbert Mao said the opposition needs to draw lessons from the past events and unite based on principles rather than religious, ethnic or political affinity adding that in the past opposition coalitions have failed because they have always done it hurriedly without a clear agenda thus failing to agree on terms.

However when the New Vision contacted the FDC deputy spokesperson Bamwenda Toterebuka he refused to go into the details of the meeting.
