Work at the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) Tororo branch office has been paralyzed following the attachment of all the corporation vehicles over non-payment of sh45m that accrued from a court case.

This comes after Efulansi Kiyingi popularly known as Kastela, a resident of Malaba town in Tororo district dragged the water body to Tororo chief magistrate's court in 2008 under civil suit number 0024 of 2012.

He demanded to be compensated for her land, crops and houses destroyed in the process of constructing the water offices in Malaba border town.

Kiyingi won the case last year and the court ordered NWSC to pay her a total of sh45m as compensation for the land and damages, but since then, the water body failed to comply prompting the court bailiffs headed by one Robert Mugabe to attach its property.

The property attached and ready for auction includes a Toyota Prado car valued about sh16m, a Toyota double cabin car valued about sh15m and a Pickup truck worth about sh15m.

Mugabe said the vehicles will only survive public auctioning if the judgment debtor pays to them the said amount plus costs and their fees and disbursement done before March 4.
