Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has fired its head of enforcement team Francis Nyonyintono under unclear circumstances.

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has fired its head of enforcement team Francis Nyonyintono under unclear circumstances.

KCCA spokesperson Peter Kaujju said Nyonyintono had a six-month contract with the authority, which was not renewed. He, however, could not state the reasons why it was not renewed. Kaujju added that the issue could only be discussed by the human resource office.

When contacted, Nyonyintono, confirmed that he had received a letter of termination, but could not divulge the details.

Before working with KCCA, Nyonyintono served in the Police force in Edmondton, Canada. When the KCCA came into force, he decided to return home to serve as an enforcement officer. He has hardly served a year in the enforcement department.

A source close to Nyonyintono said he made the centralised structure, which includes the enforcement team upon which KCCA is now manning the city.

He was also involved in getting vendors off the streets and getting them a place at Kalitunsi, where they will soon start operations.

During his time at KCCA, Nyonyintono’s duties included controlling noise in the city, dealing with illegal structures and drawing up a plan for making the city green.
