Akol new URA Commissioner General

Doris Akol is the new Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Commissioner General. Akol replaces Allen Kagina whose contract expired last month and opted not to have it renewed. Kagina was at the helm of the national tax body for 10 years.

Doris Akol is the new Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Commissioner General.

Akol replaces Allen Kagina whose contract expired last month and opted not to have it renewed.  Kagina was at the helm of the national tax body for 10 years.

Making the announcement Monday morning, the finance minister, Maria Kiwanuka, said the appointment ended a two-year search for the replacement of outgoing commissioner general.

Prior to this appointment Akol has also been the company secretary of the Uganda Revenue Authority, a position she has held for over three years. According to LinkedIn, a professional social networking site, Akol's strengths include legal advisory & consultancy, policy formulation & analysis, legislative drafting, corporate governance and company secretarial practice.

Akol holds a master of Laws degree from the McGill University in Canada and a postgraduate diploma in financial management from the Uganda Management Institute, Kampala.
