President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has responded to various issues raised by former Democratic Party president Paul Ssemogerere’s in an interview with the Sunday Monitor of September 28.

The president writes that he agrees with Ssemogerere on some issues like the rigged elections of 1962 and 1980 but that there were fundamental points that he could not leave unanswered.

Among others, he questions Ssemogerere’s stay in the 1980-85 Parliament while at the same time he lead a walk-out of the 1994 Constituency Assembly.

President Museveni also explains why the NRA continued to fight after the Nairobi Agreement because the Tito Okello regime (which at that time included Ssemogerere) continued killing innocent civilians, women and children.
