Motorcycle theft a threat in city suburbs

POLICE in Katwe have impounded a lorry truck with 8 stolen motorcycles in the areas of Buziga Makindye division Kampala District

POLICE in Katwe have impounded a lorry truck with 8 stolen motorcycles in the areas of Buziga Makindye division Kampala District.

This happened shortly after armed robbers had attacked Baja verma co ltd along old Masaka road in Ndeeba in the outskirts of Kampala city and made away with the said bikes.

According to Securex Operations Manager Mr. Vishal Dhatwal, thieves used master keys to open the shop early in the morning at around 0230hrs managed to pick 8 motorcycles loaded them on the motor vehicle UAM 167V.

“This site had alarm system and the guard which activated and the Securex Response team arrived. Within 8minutes, we found the above vehicle had just taken off. The team patrolled around the place found the door of the gate is wide open, no security lights & the guard (Ojara flex) was nowhere to be seen.” Reported Vishal Dhatwal.

Mr. Vishal reported the matter to Katwe police Station before they alerted all their police including the Highway patrols.

The Securex Country Manager Vikash Chandra said, the Securex guards and Police trailed the truck and impounded it with 8 bikes in Buziga.

Chandra said, The truck driver identified as Hanyala was arrested and detained at Katwe but denied knowledge of theft of motor cycles.

Police also made a move and arrested KPI & Hash security guard in connection to the theft. Police identified the suspects as Katongole & Akwasa and were found out to be the Key coordinators of the theft. The suspects are under key and lock at Katwe police station as investigations go on because the group appears to be big.
